UPDATE: Coroner releases ID of Lexington murder victim; man charged

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) -The Fayette County coroner has identified the victim of a murder in Lexington Thursday morning.

According to the coroner’s report, the victim is 20-year-old Haley Bourgeois.

The report lists the cause of death as multiple blunt force injuries, and classifies the manner of death as a homicide.

Investigators say Bourgeois was beaten to death by 24-year old Patrick Jones Wednesday night and then her body was dismembered. Police say body parts were found in dumpsters around two apartment complexes on Malabu Drive near Nicholasville Road.


2:16 p.m.

The Lexington Police Department says they have made an arrest in connection to a murder Thursday morning on Malabu Drive.

Officers say 24-year-old Patrick Jones had been charged with murder, tampering with evidence, and abuse of corpse.

Police say a badly mutilated body of a woman in her 20’s was found off Malabu Drive near Malabu Manor Apartments at around 5:00 a.m.

Investigators say Jones had gotten into an argument with the victim Wednesday evening, and that he used a blunt object to physically assault her.  Officers say the victim’s remains were located in multiple areas near the apartment complex.

The victim’s identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.


10:34 a.m.

Lexington police have confirmed that a woman’s body was found off Malabu Drive Thursday morning.  They say the woman was in her 20’s.

The woman’s body was badly mutilated, and found in 2 garbage dumpsters.

Officers say they are gathering evidence in multiple areas.

No arrests have been made, however police say someone has been brought in for questioning.


9:41 a.m.

Lexington police are on-scene investigating a death near the Malabu Manor apartment complex on Malabu Drive.

The Fayette Co. Coroner has also arrived.
