Solid Blue fans react to the death of Ed Davender

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) –  Solid Blue fans continue to mourn the loss of a former Kentucky Wildcat basketball player.

Ed Davender died Friday, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader. Davender had a heart attack a few days ago. The 49-year-old was with the Wildcats from 1984-1988, and was the team’s 11th all-time leading scorer. Davender had a heart murmur that ended his pro career.

Here’s what some Solid Blue fans had to say Saturday afternoon.

“His death really impacts all the Big Blue nation. It’s a sad day to see him pass away. It’s one of the greats, and his impact will always affect us,” says a Solid Blue fan.

Another fan says, “I was very saddened by the news. I always liked to watch him play.”

“I was surprised because he was very young. I remember him playing back in the 80’s,” a Solid Blue fan says.
