Laurel County Police Search For Suspect In String Of Attempted Home Invasions

Laurel County police are searching for a man they say tried to break in to as many as four homes Tuesday morning and afternoon while armed with a .22 caliber rifle.

The first report came in to police at approximately 9 a.m., and deputies responded to Brannon Mill Road, 9 miles southeast of London. they say a man, identified as Jeffery Sasser and armed with a rifle, had attempted a home invasion, but Sasser was not allowed entry to the home, and he fled on foot.

Later in the morning and early afternoon, police say Sasser tried to force entry on at least three other homes in the area. Sasser is described as a white male, age 50″s, tall, slender build, scuffy beard, glasses, cammo jacket, and cammo hat armed with a .22 caliber rifle.

Sasser may be the same suspect involved in an unsolved home invasion in that area the later part of last year that resulted in serious injury to a man.

The public is asked to be on the look out for Sasser, who is considered to be armed and dangerous. If anyone observes him, they should immediately call 911.
