Hundreds Race in Honor of Fallen Police Officer Daniel Ellis

RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ)-Hundreds of people laced their shoes in Richmond to honor fallen police officer Daniel Ellis and other law enforcement during a 5k run/walk at Madison Central High School. The money raised goes to “Trooper Island,” a camp promoting friendship between young people, and state troopers. Those participating say this is the least they can do.

Runner Nicole Landford says, “Many of these men and women put their lives on the line every single day. And to me this is the least that we can do to show we support them. They’ve been through so much critique and animosity the last year.”

Police Officer Matt McMillen running in the race says, “As an officer myself, when we come out here and doing these things we’re supporting our own community. We’re supporting the families, the officers, the fallen officers, and just coming together as a whole and just reinforcing that family idea, that bond that we have as officers.”
